Easter is almost here, and we are loving the warmer temperatures, the sunshine, and the chance to get outside to the playground! We had a fantastic Easter Egg Hunt last week, and I think everybody took home lots of fabulous eggs and prizes! The month of April is such a lovely time of year!
Our units for the month will be Easter, Camping, and Earth Day/Recycling. We will conclude the alphabet with a study of the letters Y and Z, and we will focus on the number 9. Our shape for the month will be an oval, and we will emphasize the color purple. We will enjoy Baby Grand Music on April 5th, Spanish on April 20th, and Creature Teacher on April 25th. April 19th has been set aside as 'Wear Blue Day' and class photos will be made on April 25th!
Remember that school will be closed beginning Friday, April 6th, and will reopen on Monday, April 16th. We hope everyone enjoys their Spring Break! When we return, we have a field trip planned for April 18th. We will ride a Hi-Tran bus; we will get to take an actual bus route and see the terminal and the garage for the buses. This closely relates to our unit on Transportation that we just finished!
Also, begin planning now to attend Child Enrichment Sunday at First United Methodist. Details will be sent home soon, but our children will be singing as a large group for the entire congregation on Sunday, May 6th. Additionally, our annual Child Enrichment Picnic is coming up! Watch for reservation forms to come home. It will be at High Point City Lake —— what a fabulous day to enjoy the playground, the merry-go-round, the train, and hot dogs!
The year is quickly winding down, and our class is getting ready for next year! We are amazed at the maturity that is occurring, and we are loving every day we spend with our little friends! Thanks again for sharing them with us each day.
March has arrived and with it, thoughts of Spring. Over the past week, however, I believe we have seen all four seasons right in our own backyard! Focusing on the weather, though, certainly took a back seat to our annual Festival of Friends! We had so much fun, and we so much appreciate everyone's contributions! Without everyone working together, our success would not have been as great!
This month we have several special dates to remember:
16 Spanish Class 17 Abbey's Birthday! 21 Creature Teacher 22 Wear your favorite Team Colors! TBD Easter Egg Hunt (a field trip for 4s)
We are just about all the way through the alphabet, and this month we will get a little closer to the end by studying U, V, W, and X! Our color for the month will be green, our shape will be a shamrock, and our units will include Nutrition, St. Patrick's Day and Spring Weather, Birds, and Transportation! Watch for information to come home about a ride on a real Hi-Tran bus! It's a great trip and so educational!
Everyone is working so hard —— we are now writing words regularly and I know you are so proud of work that is coming home! Quiz your child on letter recognition and sounds —- you will be amazed at how well our new Zoo Phonics has served the class! Our children are growing and learning at a fantastic rate —- we are so proud of them! Thanks for sharing them with us, and for all you do for our class!
February normally slips in with all of us thinking about ice, snow and trying to stay warm. This year, however, we are enjoying a rather balmy winter! However, we plan to remain alert and ready for any winter weather! It wasn't quite as interesting as it could have been when we were learning about snow, and winter weather last month!
We began this month with a unit on Groundhogs, and then Cowboys! It was a great week, and we spent the entire week wearing cowboy hats! We also got to have snack with our drinks in a cowboy boot! This week we are focused on Valentine's Day, and then we will follow up with units on Dental Health and Famous Americans. We will include letters this month of P, Q, R and S; our shape will be a heart and our color will be pink. We will concentrate on the number 7 in math.
Specials for the month will include chapel each Tuesday, Baby Grand Music, a Valentine's Day party, Creature Teacher, Library Liz and Spanish class! The best special for the month, however, will be our 100th Day Celebration! We are learning to count to 100 and we are almost there! On February 15th, we will have a special snack and special art to celebrate the 100th day of school! It will be a wonderful day!
Everyone is working hard on phonics —— learning letters and sounds is much easier now than earlier in the year since we all understand how letters work to make sounds and words. We began writing words on lined paper last week with pencils! Look for these special papers as they come home —— you'll be as proud as we are!
We appreciate your continued support and you allowing us to spend each day with your child. As always, let us know of any concerns you might have.
BRRRRRRRR!!! January has arrived and the next few days (at least) promise to send shock waves through our bones! Our classroom, however, will be warm and cozy with lots going on as we celebrate January with the units of Happy New Year!, Snowmen!, Winter Weather, and Penguins and Polar Bears! We will end up the month with a special Penguin Day —— we hope everyone can wear black and white!
Our letters for the month will be M, N, and P; our number focus will be on 6, our shape for the month will be a rectangle, and our color emphasis will be on white. We have several specials for the month including, Baby Grand Music on the 5th, Library Liz on the 9th, Creature Teacher on the 18th, and Penguin Day on the 27th. Please note that there will be no school on January 16th in honor of the Martin Luther King holiday.
As the new year begins, it is important to begin making plans for next year with regard to school. Pre-registration begins this month —— watch for details coming home. Remember that several classes have been full this year so you might want to register early! In trying to help you plan for the next year, however, Child Enrichment has set aside a day for Parent-Teacher Conferences. On Tuesday, January 17th, there will be no school for students. A special time will be set aside for each student so that parents may come in and ask questions and/or see and hear all about the fantastic things your child is doing at preschool! Hopefully, this conference will help as you make plans for the next school year. A schedule will be sent home soon.
As always, we are available to meet with you about any concerns you have. We so much appreciate all you do for us. It is such a privilege to share our day with your child.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we are busy preparing a selection of songs for our parent program and feast! Our units this month include Turkeys, Pilgrims and Indians, the Thanksgiving Story, and as we enter December, Jesus is Coming! Letters we will study will be H, I, J, and K. Special days for November include Speech Screenings on the 2nd, a trip to Westchester Country Day School to see the "Wizard of Oz" on the 10th, Creature Teacher on the 30th, Spanish on the 18th, and Baby Grand Music class on the 1st of December. Also, be sure to visit Barnes & Noble on the 18th or 19th for Child Enrichment's Book Fair. If you have questions about how it works, let us know. Use the bookstore visit as a Christmas shopping trip! After all that, we will enter December and the mos special holiday season!
We had a great Halloween party, and many thanks go out to Lizzie and Lilly's mom and to Jocelyn's mom for the great snacks and goody bags! We also celebrated Jocelyn's birthday —— Happy Birthday to a sweet girl! November will see more of our friends turning 5 —- Lizzie and Lilly's birthday is November 9th, and Dawit's birthday is on the 15th! Happy Birthday to each of them! Remember that Child Enrichment will be closed November 23rd through November 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday, but we will see everyone back on Monday, November 28th! Have a fabulous Thanksgiving!
Fall is finally here, and with it comes welcome, cooler temperatures, and LOADS of fun four our class! We will study four units this month beginning with Pumpkins, and followed by Spiders & Bats, Fire Safety, and Halloween Fun!
We will continue our Zoo Phonics study of the letters E, F, G, and H, and we will concentrate on the number 3, the color orange, and the shape of a circle. And here's a fabulous secret.....shhhhhhhhh......in November, we will celebrate with a Thanksgiving Feast, and we will perform a short program for parents! You won't want to miss it, so mark your calendar now for Thursday, November 17th. (I'm telling you this now so you will understand why your child will be singing Thanksgiving songs any day now while they are in the bathtub...........)
We've just had a visit from Library Liz, and Baby Grand Music is tomorrow, October 6th. We have a trip to the Pumpkin Patch planned (stay tuned for more details), and a fire truck will visit Child Enrichment on October 17th! Additionally, we will have Spanish class on the 21st, Creature Teacher on the 26th, a Halloween Party and Pumpkin Carving on October 28th, and we will trick-or-treat inside the building here on the 31st! (Watch for a note to be sent home that will give details about whether or not to wear costumes.)
We have completed an initial assessment of each child, one of four that will be conducted during this school year. We feel like we have a really good understanding of each child, and we are quickly falling in love with them! If you would like to discuss any concerns please always feel free to contact us. We are always available and absolutely want what's best for our little friends. They all seem quite happy and are already changing and growing every day! Thanks for being so supportive and allowing us to share in their day!
The halls are once again filling with busy folks readying classrooms for the new school year! Everything is clean, and lots of things are new! We are all getting ready to meet our new little friends and get off to a fantastic month!
Our first unit will be Me and My Friends, followed by Apples, Shapes, and Leaves/Seasons. Our letters for the month will be A, B, C, and D. These will be taught using a brand new curriculum purchased especially for our four year olds. It is called Zoo Phonics and promises to be loads of fun! We will concentrate on the shape of a star, the color blue, and the numbers 1 and 2.
Specials for the month include Baby Grand Music class on Sept. 8th, Library Liz on Sept. 12th, Spanish class on Sept. 16th, and Creature Teacher on Sept. 28th. Additionally, we would like for everyone to wear their favorite apple color on Sept. 15th; this will be a great source for us to create a classroom graph. And don't forget Sept. 22nd! This is the date reserved for our Get Acquainted Skate Night; details will be coming home with your child. A very special day is coming up on Sept. 22 —- our friend Clyde will be celebrating his birthday! Happy 5th Birthday, Clyde!
Deena and I are so excited about getting to know you. We work well together and have the same goals for your child. Please let us know about special goals you have in mind for your child. We will be happy to work individually with each child on their needs.
